Behaviour expectations for the Lower School at QISS this year are: 1. Be safe 2. Be respectful 3. Be responsible.
In our classroom we will be enforcing those rules, but we also have 4 of our own that are more specific. We created this set of expectations for the classroom and each of them signed off on them saying that they will follow each one. Our rules are: 1. Be kind to everyone. (Sensitivity and Compassion) 2. Stay on task (Intelligence) 3. Always try your best (courage) 4. Be positive! (vitality)
Other way of tracking and encouraging good behavior is Dojo points. Children will collect green dojos for showing good and positive behaviour and red dojos for not acting properly. We discuss it with the students on the daily basis and explain to them how to show compassion, vitality, intelligence, sensitivity and courage. Those are part of our Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs) and they play huge role in our school and help us to develope a Mindful Heart.
