Hands of Friendship
We are all very good friends in Pre-K and we all take care of each other showing lots of Compassion. We made our own Chain of Friendship by tracing our hands and sticking them together. Students wrote down their names on their "hands" and we stapled them one by one. The chain is nicely displayed on our classroom door for everybody who passes by to see :)
Crazy Hats!
When we were learnt about the letter sound "h" , we read a story about "Crazy Cat and His Hats". The cat was so crazy that he did not like any of the hats that his friend had. HE only liked his own perfect little hat. Students also shared different views about the crazy hats so they decided to make their own "crazy" ones. The results were great!
Cookie Party!
We had our another ESLR party and students decided to eat some cookies but they came up with an idea to bake the cookies by themselves. It was great! We talked about ingredients and we watched Ms. Jola mixing them. Then we shaped the cookies on our own and baked them. Delicious :)
Hammy the Hamster
Within Unit 2 we are going to learn about animals wants and needs. We had a special guest coming to our classroom to help us understand what we are learning at the moment. It was Hammy the Hamster. He is really nice and fluffy. He liked playing with us and we made sure to be very gentle with him :)
C or K?
The next letter sounds that we learnt were a bit tricky. They make the same sound but they have different names. To distinguish the difference between them we call C-cuddling c and K- kicking k. We brainstormed words that begin with both letter sounds and we made cats and koalas out of those sounds too. They looked super cute:)
Well done Pre-K
First week after school we have spent mostly on reviewing the sounds the we already learnt. It was impressive how well the students know them. They could sort them out according to the beginning sound and could write them down independently :)
What makes you a good friend?
During our counselling classes with Ms. Stephanie we were discussing what could we do to be better friends. Do we hit? Do we push? Or we share? Take turns? Be nice to each other? All students knew the correct answers and they promised to make sure they would be amazing friends in Pre-K!
We are unique!
During POI classes we were discussing similarities and differences in all of us. We made puzzles from our pictures and we had to put them all together and recognize ourselves. It was a lot of fun when sometimes the students thought that their mouth was not theirs but it belonged to the friend :) We also traced our faces using transparent sheets and markers. The results were hilarious!
Super Broomella!!!
We kicked off our unit of inquiry “Super ME”. We noticed strange footprints on the floor leading to the Parents Lounge. When we followed them and entered the room we saw a terrible mess! It was a horrible monster who wanted to put us in trouble! We had to ask someone to help us. We called for help and…. Superhero came! It was Super Broomella with her super cleaning powers. She also had a super tool- a mop! She helped us to clean up the mess very quickly. It started our discussion what super powers do we posses?
Swimming begins with "S"
This week we have started our swimming classes with Mr. Riki. Students are absolutely over the moon to take part in it! Please remember to pack up your child's swimming stuff (swimming suit, cap, goggles and towel) every Thursday and Friday:)
We like "S"!
Pre-K continued learning letter sound "S". To make it fun and easy we made our own Sssslime- kids enjoyed mixing it with their hands and adding ingredients. After washing hands from slime we had some more messy learning. We made Sssspiders with our hand prints. They came out great and now they are proudly hung in the hallway for everybody to enjoy them!
The Snake is in the Grass....ssssssss......
Our students learnt their first letter sound "S". They showed lots of Vitality being engaged in all learning and hands on activities. They made wriggly snakes and decorated them with spots. They painted leaves in green colour for our classroom because we still have summer and it begins with S. We also brainstormed the words that begin with "S". I was really impressed how many words they could find :) Well done Pre-K!
First Week of School!
During our first week of school we focused mainly on getting to know each other and building relationships. We also had to remember about our safety so we learnt about rules and expectations that we are going to follow in our classroom/school. All this was done in a fun way with lots of activities that our students enjoyed :) Look at those smiles!
